美国中西部国际钢琴比赛，是为了以艺术比赛为交流和平台，促进钢琴演奏及曲目的发展，抒发全人类对世界璀璨多元文化艺术的赞美与和平与和谐世界的憧憬，给世界各国艺术家及青少年艺术爱好者一个具有相当标准与规格的国际交流与互相学习的机会，以展示当前世界艺术的发展与教育水平。
2016年第二届美国中西部国际钢琴比赛将于2016年6月5日至6月11日在北爱荷华大学大学举行。乐度记者了解到，本次比赛分为初级组和高级组两个组别，分别面向世界各国17岁及32岁以下的钢琴家开放。比赛奖金非常丰厚，高级组一等奖的奖励达10000美元，同时，还将获得由Blue Griffin出版公司的价值5000美元获胜者本人的CD唱片。所有入围的参赛选手将在美国GreatHall大厅进行表演，并由国际评审团进行评审，出席本届比赛的艺术家有如 Itzhak Perlman, Olga Kern, Garrick Ohlsson, Yeol Eum Son, Emanuel Ax, Yo-Yo Ma等等国际著名钢琴家。

参赛要求：面向杰出的钢琴艺术家开放，不限国籍，按年龄段分为两个小组：
l 青年组：年龄不超过17岁；
l 成年组：年龄不超过32岁；
备注：
1) 年龄以2016年3月15日为界；
2) 本届评委的学生不具报名资格，但评委大师班的学员可报名参加。

JUNIOR CATEGORY：
PLEASE NOTE: No compositions can be repeated at any point of the actual live competition. However, pieces from the Prescreening round may be repeated either in the First or the Second rounds. No repertoire changes are allowed after April 15th, 2016.
l PRESCREENING ROUND
Each work must be recorded in one unedited take.
ü A Prelude and Fugue from either volume of Well-Tempered Clavier by J. S. Bach.
ü A virtuoso etude chosen from the following composers: Chopin, Liszt, Rachmaninov, Scriabin, Prokofiev, Stravinsky, Ligeti, Kapustin.
ü A nocturne by Chopin.
ü First movement of a classical sonata by Haydn, Mozart, Beethoven or Schubert.
l FIRST ROUND (maximum of 15 competitors)
Duration not to exceed 25 minutes
ü Virtuoso etude chosen from the following composers: Chopin, Liszt, Rachmaninov, Scriabin,
Prokofiev, Stravinsky, Ligeti, Kapustin.
ü One impromptu by Franz Schubert chosen from op. 90 (D 899) or op. posth. 142 (D 935).
ü A composition or compositions of competitor’s choice to make up the remaining time
of 25 minutes.
l SECOND ROUND (6 competitors)
Duration not to exceed 40 minutes
ü A complete classical sonata by Haydn, Mozart, Beethoven or Schubert.
Please note: the first movement of the sonata that was recorded for the Prescreening may be performed.
ü A composition or compositions of competitor’s choice to make up the remaining time of
40 minutes.
SENIOR CATEGORY：
PLEASE NOTE: No compositions can be repeated at any point of the actual live competition except a classical sonata for both Prescreening and the Second rounds. No repertoire changes are allowed after April 15th, 2016.
l PRESCREENING ROUND
Each work must be recorded in one unedited take.
ü A Prelude and Fugue from Well-Tempered Clavier or at least three movements from either Suites or Partitas by J.S. Bach.
ü An etude by Chopin.
ü Two contrasting movements from a classical sonata.
ü One work of competitor's choice.
l FIRST ROUND (maximum of 20 competitors)

ü Two contrasting sonatas by Domenico Scarlatti.
ü A virtuoso etude by any composer EXCEPT Chopin.
ü A composition or compositions of competitor’s choice to make up the remaining time of
25 minutes.
l SECOND ROUND (9 competitors)
Duration not to exceed 55 minutes
ü A complete classical sonata.
ü A substantial romantic work.
ü A composition or compositions of competitor’s choice to make up the remaining time of 55 minutes.
l THIRD ROUND (3 competitors)
Choose one of the following concertos:
